April 10, 1987: a trip from Yokota Air Base, Japan to Osan Air Base, South Korea, headed for Itaewon.
At fifteen years of age I'd lived in three different countries (including the US), and I was now visiting a fifth (including a long drive through Canada), albeit only for four days. The prospect of seeing a bit of South Korea was thrilling.
So, messing about in the shop tonight. Bugler is done for now, on to the guidon bearer. Got the regulation guidon sized and shaped, and things are coming along. Anyway, this is the Benton Hussars, a unit of state militia raised around St. Louis at the begining of the civil war, largely from central europeans who fled to the US in the aftermath of the 1848 revolutions, to avoid the royalist counter revolutions.
