Heritage custom cast

circa 1978, Heritage brought out the first Star Trek RPG, under a strange license arrangement involving Lou Zocchi and Franz Joseph and not directly from Paramount, with the Motion Picture coming to,screens lawyers for Paramount smelled money in the wind and decided to tighten up the licenses for the previously haphazard and baroque property, Heritage-Custom Cast had just tooled the miniature line and entered production, causing a legal mess and financial disaster for the garage sized company.  The rpg was swiftly reprinted with a search and repace drill under the title "Space Patrol", the minis hit legal limbo, and Paramount decided FASA's Battlestar Galactica, Dr. Who, and  The Last Starfighter games meant they were a more experienced and proffessional, (read lucrative ) licensee for Star Trek,  but Paramount eventually screwed them too.

Meanwhile Heritage minis are still around, and collectable. About 70 bucks a blister card.  A great way to get some tellerites and some Kzinti, (from Larry Nivens STAS script The Slaver Weapon).
