indicating that some precambrian acritarchs appear to be animal in origin...  like the tests of brine shrimp. probably an evolutionary response to surviving periodic anoxia in the oceans...

so, Jurassic Park madness has at least meant that Walmart is stocking a big lot of Jurassic Park themed choco eggs.  I got one; they remind me a bit of chocosaurs.  I also bought two extra; one for Scott and one for Raven.  Here's mine;

the Roman Emperor Caligula, like all the decendants of Divine Ceasar, claimed to be decended from Venus and as Emperor he held the Pontifex Maximus, that is the supreme religous office of Ancient Rome.  so it makes sense that on lake Nevi, known to the Romans as "The Mirror of Venus" , an ancient temple site, he would build something special in the Goddesses honor.  but instead of ordinary temple building, it seems he opted to build some kind of enormous naval barge cum temple possibly what is described by Suetonius.

in 1814 our invasion of Canada under General Jacob Brown was given the finger by the Canadians at the battle of Lundy's Lane.  Remember General  Jacob Jennings Brown?  No?  that's too bad, since after helping one Alexander Hamilton win a thing called the Revolutionary war, he would eventually be the guy to create the Army's first post graduate schools, and championed higher education for enlisted men.  He won the Congressional Gold Medal (the for-runner of the congressional medal of honor) and would lead the army as it's highest general under later presidents like Monroe.  Oh, yeah, and he
