I'm drawing some maps of the Blindheim battlefield for Mr. Whitehouse, drawing with the wacom directly into the computer is taking getting used to. still prefer paper to tablets. but there was some progress today
We went out today, I've lost enough weight I couldn't keep my clothes on me, so had to buy some new britches and a top that doesn't look like a beduin blanket. I also got myself a printer, paper and ink so I can start paper modeling.
here are some things I've put together for battlefields...
Perry Minatures reported today on the passing of the great Ian Heath. He was one of the researchers of Osprey books, a prolific wargame writer and scholar of the early medieval period, and famous for one of the largest Tolkein miniature army collections in England. His knowledge is irreplaceable. We are lucky to have his writing and notes survive him.
Pretty useful stuff for a battlefield; Tents from Pellerin, A Built rite trench, an early Hasbro sandbag emplacement, cone tents... other stuff I knocked together.
A built-rite fort, made up from bad online photos, I have also got this as a large size model (approx O scale) but that one is more than 50 pages, and I'm not uploading that by individual pages.
So these new "rubber" (soft plastic) figures from Elastowit do not have a website. the guys doing them are using facebook only I gather. but here's the catalog of pieces they can do. If I understand aright, they don't keep much stock, instead casting more or less to order... The have an orderform, it's a doxx file. they are clearly not a "professional buisness" , but more like early times at TSR... a hobby buisness.
Per this tweet, today seems to be a good candidate for celebrating the release of D&D, so I'm marking the 49th anniversary of its release.
Alas, I'm not playing much lately, due to a combination of several factors, chiefly being busy with work and too exhausted to have much of a social life on weekends. But I'm planning something for next year, the last Sunday of January, where I hope to have a game going.
the guy who had the Timmee license and molds has added at least some of BMCs product and a LOT of former Marx molds; the Gettysburg set is not being reissued soon, but they ARE bringing back the Yorktown playset..and keeping with the old timmee viet nam sets in multi colors, and the army women sets...
